HISTORY OF THE SRC -- The Susquehanna Retriever Club was started in 1989 and held their first meeting at the Pilottown Rod and Gun Club on August 9, 1989.  The SRC was originally founded as a club for all aspects of retrievers including showing, obedience, and field work.

In March, 1990, the Susquehanna Retriever Club held it's first Junior Hunt Test Fun Match at the Stoney Chase Farm in Conowingo, MD.  The Fun Match had 40 Junior Entries with the entry fee of $18.00 per dog.  By the end of 1990, the Susquehanna Retriever Club had 31 members.

In April 1991, the Susquehanna Retriever Club had submitted its Constitution and By-Laws to the American Kennel Club.  In 1991, the SRC held its first AKC Sanctioned Junior and Senior Hunting Test and became a member of the Master National Retriever Club.  In the spring of 1992, the SRC held a AKC Licensed Junior Hunt Test and a Junior and Senior Puppy Test.  The fall of 1992 the SRC held their first AKC Licensed test with Junior, Senior, and Master levels all offered.

Today, the Susquehanna Retriever Club remains focused on AKC Hunt Tests and holds a spring and fall test each year.  We also hold training days throughout the year which are open to members, guests, and volunteers.  If you would like additional information of the history of the club, please email Doug Eby.
